U Myint Lwin, joint secretary of the Myanmar Swimming Federation, disclosed that one male athlete and one female athlete were chosen to represent Myanmar at the Olympics. "We will send the records of the two selected athletes to the Olympic scrutinizing committee. July 23 Russian missile attack on Odesa

ODESA, UKRAINE - JULY 23, 2023 - Two men are seen outside a house ruined in the massive Russian missile attack Sunday night, July 23, Odesa, southern Ukraine. During the large-scale overnight missile attack, Russian troops launched 19 missiles of various types at Odesa and the region. The strike killed one person and left 22 people injured, including four children. The historic centre of Odesa on the UNESCO World Heritage List came under fire. Twenty-five architectural monuments were damaged, including Transfiguration Cathedral.

Twenty-three South Korean Christian aid workers were seized by Taliban militants on July 19 and two men were killed by their captors.

SAGA, Japan - Four elderly people play mahjong at a community center in Saga, Saga Prefecture as part of a medical study to determine whether playing mahjong helps deter senility and promote health among elderly people. The study is conducted by Etsuo Horikawa, professor of cognitive neuropsychology at the Saga University medical school. Twenty men and women, mostly in their early 70s who never played mahjong before in their life, are taking part in the cognitive neropsychology research.

HAIKOU, China - Chen Ci, head of Hainan Province's foreign affairs office, says at a news conference in Haikou on April 11 that procedures are under way to release the crew of a U.S. reconnaissance plane detained there since April 1. NAGASAKI, Japan - Twenty-three men were rescued Feb. 20 from life rafts drifting off the coast of Nagasaki Prefecture. They are believed to be among the 28 crew members, including Chinese, South Koreans and Indonesians, of a Belize fishing boat, the 73-ton Sol Fresh. The photo was released by the Japan Coast Guard.
